As hard as we try, no cutout is going to be as perfect as we would like it. To make your installation look flawless, HES includes a trim enhancer in every 5000 series box. This handy piece covers jagged edges or cuts that may not be perfectly straight horizontally or vertically.
The trim enhancer is securely attached to the strike body with screws, so when making the horizontal cutout on the face of the frame you should add an additional 1/8” to the cutout dimension listed on your template to allow for clearance of these screws when the strike is put into the frame. This accessory will make you look like an expert because every installation looks great.
